On Oct. 8th, I got the chance to see both Geese and Fcukers- in one night. I’d never done two concerts in a night before, and I was a little nervous! But looking at the rough set times for the two shows, I was confident that it could be done. I enlisted the help of my best friend Ella- she LOVES Geese, and I love Fcukers, so this would be perfect for the both of us. We’d both get to see a band we loved, and share it with someone who has different music genre tastes. We made a game plan, and hit the road up to Phoenix.
Geese
After the traffic on the highway, we made it to the outside of the Arizona Financial Theater. I’d never been to this venue before, so I was a little nervous! It was hard to find parking, but we ended up getting a spot in a garage across from the venue for $20. Getting through Will Call, security, and the entrance was a breeze- barely any lines, and we struck up friendly conversations with the people around us. It was a friendly crowd, full of happy and talkative people. A funny phenomenon that my friend and I noticed while chatting with someone outside of the merch line was the gender disparity of the concert. There was a long line for the men’s restroom and no line at all for the women’s- a rare sight at concerts! There was also a sort of unofficial dress code throughout the crowd; I saw khaki jorts, grommets, Geese and Geese-adjacent band shirts, newsboy caps on women and baseball hats on mustached men.
Due to some issues getting out onto the road, we unfortunately weren’t able to catch the opener. We heard the very tail end of her set while getting into the venue and she sounded amazing, and I was sad to have missed it! We made our way to our very good seats above the pit (thank you co-sign!) and waited for the show to start. Coincidentally, former KAMP Mobile DJ Director Luke Wise was sitting directly in front of us. We chatted with him while waiting for the band to come out after the opener finished.

As Geese came out, the energy in the venue was electric. Chatting by the bathroom, a girl had told me that there would be moshing- I kind of doubted it, unsure if the Geese vibe was mosh-able. I was immediately proven wrong.
Geese started with Husbands, and went on to play an incredible set. It was incredible to hear songs like Getting Killed, Au Pays du Cocaine, and Taxes live! The lighting for the show was incredible- strobes, colors, and a spotlight that broadcasted a beautiful shadow of the drummer’s silhouette on the wall of the venue.

The crowd and pit had so much energy and Ella and I were singing along to our favorite songs with the others. I was really hoping to hear Cowboy Nudes, one of my favorite of their songs, which they unfortunately didn’t play. That said, it was a magical show and I really enjoyed the experience.
In the last 20 minutes of the set, the pit started crowdsurfing people towards the stage. After making it to the front, the crowdsurfer would immediately get grabbed by security, and another person got sent up. This went on for about 10 people in an absurd people-powered conveyer belt, it was hilarious.
Fcukers
After Geese finished up, Ella and I sprinted to the parking garage, hoping to make it to Fcukers before their set started. We had time and intel on our side, since Fcukers started later than Geese and we had friends updating us on whether or not the show had started yet. We were not able to catch the opener, but SEES00000’s set went on until about 11pm, giving us time to slide in during Fcukers’ first song after ID check and security! Rushing to the stage, I glanced at how cool the venue was, filled with fun lights and art installations- I made a mental note to check this out later.

I re-upped on my drink at the bar, opting for a lavender-flavored house cocktail. This cocktail was INCREDIBLE! It tasted so good, was not too expensive (esp for concert prices), and came in a reusable metal cup. Already I was loving this venue.
Fcukers was great, and the crowd was packed with energy. I’d seen the band once before this in Paris at the Bataclan. Once again they brought that energy, playing mostly songs from Ö; my favorites were L.U.C.K.Y., if you wanna party.., Beatback, and of course Bon Bon! There were great vibes at the venue, and again the crowd was full of friendly people.

The crowd dispersed after Fcukers ended, and it was time for the Geese DJ set. To my disappointment, Cameron Winter did not pull up to DJ on stage, with guitarist Emily Green and drummer Max Bassin on the deck instead. Winter stood to the side, watching the stage. Later in the set, they played some of my favorite EDM classics which made me really happy, notably Halcyon by Orbital and Where’s Your Head at by Basement Jaxx!

My friends and I wandered around the venue, making conversation with other people enjoying the venue and the show. The art decorating the back edge reminded me of things I’d seen at Gem and Jam earlier this year. There was a bus with a balcony that I (of course) climbed on top of. There were various themed train cars, which fostered space for conversations. The friends I had met up with there were having a lot of fun looking at the art, and we went outside to enjoy the outside space of the warehouse as well, which had a lovely food cart.
Overall I really enjoyed Walter Where?House as a venue- I think it was perfect for Fcukers, and reminded me of other EDM festivals. Getting to see Fcukers again was so awesome- they’re one of the best electro-pop duos doing it right now, and they always bring an amazing set!
Would I do two concerts in a night again?
It was a great time, and I absolutely don’t regret seeing both the shows in one night. That said, it was stressful making sure to get from one place to another, especially from two hours away! If I were to do it again, I would make sure to plan it out more carefully, and have a good handle on the set times and transportation between venues. But- it can be done!
Thank you so much to co-sign and the awesome people there for this incredible opportunity!
