Description:
“Tints” is the first single off of Anderson .Paak’s forthcoming album, Oxnard, with executive producer Dr. Dre. Anderson .Paak has been absolutely slaying the music game with his previous albums and the success of his recent singles, “Bubblin'” and “Til’ It’s Over.” I seriously can not wait for this album to be released, yet the release date is unknown. Tints includes a funky but poppy beat, something of what I would expect from Anderson .Paak but not entirely ecstatic about everything else that follows the production. The chorus “I need tints (windows tinted)/I need tints (I need my windows tinted)” repeats along with some various vibey lines from Anderson .Paak but nothing that particularly sticks with me after listening. Kendrick Lamar is featured and definitely makes the song excel better than if it was with .Paak by himself. It’s not the usual all-in, hardcore rhymes from Kendrick we can be used to but I enjoy that he matches the laid-back nature of the song. Overall, I think it’s a fun, easy-going song I could expect from Anderson .Paak, but prefer his recent singles and previous work more. I hope for the album .Paak goes in on his strengths instead of making a light and wavy groove album.
