From the skinny jeans to pink bruised knees to a failed firework, this show was one of
the best concerts I’ve been to. I was able to see The Hellp on a Wednesday night and I felt like I was in a good environment. Usually, the clouds are crazy and rude, but the people I met were amazing. I’m a paranoid person, especially when it comes to my time management, so I got to the venue at 5, seeing no line. It was me and another person waiting for the doors to open, but to our surprise, Chandler and Noah (The Hellp) came out and were confused to see us there so early. Chandler said he had a surprise for us as they were leaving and took out a firework, setting it off very close to us, but to our luck, it didn’t go off like he wanted it to. It was crazy meeting them, and I was in such shock I didn’t get any pictures, only a video of the firework Chandler set off before they left. That is my only proof that this interaction happened, that and Chandler (@skinnyyoungthud on Instagram) reposting my story about the firework. The whole interaction made me even more excited about the show, and this excitement was not let down. They opened up with Rllynice, setting off the whole mood of the show. I've never been in a crowd where I heard so many people singing along, with songs like Tu Tu Neurotic, Caustic, and meant2be. Although the stage lights were off and you could only see them if someone’s flashlight was on, along with the two big light boxes facing the crowd, it was a dark show. The stage was so small I could have easily gotten on it, but that also made it easier for people to push and for my knees to bruise, making my whole body hurt. But the music and euphoric feeling in that crowd made me not feel any of the pain, even though at some point in the show we, as a crowd, fell very embarrassingly.
This is my second time seeing them live; The first was in San Diego, where they opened
up for Yves Tumor. they were a smaller duo then, so the crowd wasn’t as alive, and it mirrored to The Hellp. But now that they’ve grown and have a full set at shows, their energy is more prominent, and their sound is even better. The show was very intranet and created a feeling of community between everybody. We were all there for one reason only, to enjoy The Hellp’s music. I hope they tour again soon because I would see them again in a heartbeat; their shows never miss and are impactful.
