Red (Taylor’s Version) is a lively revival of the original album and is illuminated by songs from “the vault”. My personal favorite being Nothing New (feat. Phoebe Bridgers) (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault) which touches on what it’s like to feel lost as a twenty-something. It has a very similar sound to Bridger’s usual stuff and I think Swift’s inclusion of her on the track was brilliant.
While the album came with a lot of discussion surrounding a particular owner of a particular scarf, it truly is so much more than that and creates a great story of being a young woman coming of age. Swift’s songwriting capabilities are vast and it’s no surprise these songs are full of witty lyrics and meaningful melodies.
The album shuffles through songs with heavy pop influence such as Starlight (Taylor’s Version) and We Are Never Ever Getting back Together (Taylor’s Version), as well as songs that remind us of the old twang that used to fill Swift’s earlier music which is found in I Bet You Think About Me (feat. Chris Stapleton) (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault).
