Night Owl- Olivia Jean

Album: Night Owl

Artist: Olivia Jean

Sub-Genres: #GarageRock

Label: Third Man Records

Non-Airable Tracks: None

Description:

There was a lot going on in this album. It is certainly not boring, as one can notice something new about a song each time they hear it. Sometimes it sounds like she is just ranting or speaking rather than singing. There is a great range in instrumental sounds. Sometimes it is very classic garage rock, and other times it gets more experimental. The album had a more “spooky” sound to me, perhaps with an anxiety driven motive. Parts of this album seemed almost theatrical to me in the way she sings. I chose “Brushfire” as a recommended track because I felt her voice was best portrayed on this track. This song gave me classic rock vibes and felt more relaxed than some of the other songs. I almost wish the rest of the album had more of this tone, as it is more groovy and easy on the ears. To me the other songs seem almost as if they are trying too hard to be something they are not.

Sounds Like: The Black Belles

Recommended Tracks:

  1. Brushfire
