My Top 5 Alice Cooper Halloween Songs

Before we start I want to make the careful distinction that this is a list of my top 5 Alice Cooper Halloween songs not just my top 5 Alice Cooper songs. A song can be a good Halloween song without needing to be a good song all on its own as long as it embodies the spirit of the holiday. I also want to clarify that this list is my opinion and should not dictate your enjoyment of the songs, if you like it you like it, if you don't you don't and there's nothing wrong with that.

#5 He's Back (The Man Behind The Mask)

This is probably the worst song on this list, on a list of Alice Cooper's best songs this one wouldn't make the cut, however, I believe that this song's silly overall feel and horror theming make it a good Halloween song, good but not the best.

This song was written to be the main theme for Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives and uses the "ki-ki-ki ma-ma-ma" motif assosiated with Jason throughout the movies.

I think when it comes to being a campy 80s horror themed Halloween song He's Back (The Man Behind The Mask) puts up a good effort so for that it gets the number 5 spot.

#4 Black Juju

This one gets the number 4 spot because it is a better song than He's Back, its less silly but has horror themes and an eerie feeling throughout.

I believe it is the oldest song on this list coming out in 1971 before the their big hit with Billion Dollar Babies in 1973 which might explain why it has a different feel from the rest of the songs on this list being less campy and more experimental.

#3 Teenage Frankenstein

This song like He's Back (The Man Behind The Mask) was written to be part of the soundtrack for Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives. Unlike He's Back this song is passable as an actual song instead of a novelty. This song has a sort of late middle school/early high school feel to it at least to me, not to say its a bad song it just feels like it has a "yeah im edgy" thing going on without being edgy and I could totally see 16 year old me thinking it was awesome which is kind of is in a fun mid-80s way.

Also the "Frankenstein was the Doctor" crowd might have an issue with this one because it uses "Frankenstein" as essentially a placeholder for the feelings of being an outsider, monster, or freak which I think works well in the song and makes it extra Halloween themed. If you really do have a problem with it then maybe Alice Cooper just isn't for you because this isn't the only song that does this as you'll see with number 2.

#2 Feed My Frankenstein

I think this is the best song on this list with great guitar and great vocals. Its horror themed, a lot of fun, and my personal favorite Alice Cooper song. Along with being a good song it's also star studded featuring Mickey Curry on drums, Joe Satriani and Steve Vai on guitar, with Nikki Sixx on bass and some background vocals. Overall not the best Halloween song but its definitely number 2 with its quality and theming.

#1 Keepin Halloween alive

This is by far the newest song in the list having come out in 2009 as a single. This song is one of the best Halloween songs I think ever, despite its newness in comparison to the rest on this list it still keeps in line with Alice Cooper's style and manages to solidify its self at first place by being a good song and being the most Halloween related song. I don't think its quite as good as Feed My Frankenstein but it defiantly beats it out in the theming.
