Description:
Listen, I LOVE Basement. Nothing goes harder Spoiled off of their second album, Colourmeinkindness or honestly, the whole record pops OFF. Their newest release, Beside Myself, falls a bit short for me which is sad. I just wish it went harder and faster The song Reason for Breathing, sounds like it is following Spoiled’s sound but leaves me wanting more.
This is not a bad album by any means, I just was not as wowed as I hoped for. They worked with producer, Colin Brittain, who worked with 5 Seconds of Summer, All Time Low which is a direction I wouldn’t think Basement would take. Of course, I am not asking them to make another Colourmeinkindness album, I just wish Beside Myself had more variation in sound.
The best song off this record is Slip Away. It is hard hitting from the beginning, the guitars are a bit rough, the melody and lyrics are catchy. Another good song is Keepsake, it is a bit slower but still carries the Basement like energy. I think this album will grow on me just because of how much I like Basement, so check up with me in a couple months and it might be better.
Sounds like: Bland Basement, Joyce Manor
Song Recommendations:
Slip Away – nice windy guitars
Keepsake – good lyrics
