Coming off of a 14-point conference win against OSU, the Arizona Wildcats Men’s basketball team is looking to earn another conference win at home versus CU Boulder. Coming off a 7 game losing streak, the Buffaloes were hoping to force an upset in Arizona. Colorado ran a zone defense for the entirety of the game to throw off the Wildcat
offense. The strategy seemed to be working in the first half as Arizona was held to 33 points, 8.5 lower than their average points in the first half.
Arizona quickly formulated a strategy after the first period to pull away from the buffs and break down the Colorado zone defense. Anthony Dell’orso had easily one of his best performances as a Wildcat, scoring 20 points on the day. Dell’orso scored 6 three pointers, the most by any wildcat basketball player since Courtney Ramsey’s 8 3PG's in 2023 versus Stanford.
CU head coach Tad Boyle mentioned Tobe Awaka in his post game press conference calling him “the difference maker” in the game. Awaka had a staggering 15 rebounds for Arizona, tying his own career high. Caleb love put up 8 points for the Wildcats, and Junior transfer Caleb Bradley had 6 assists on the day.
The win versus CU certainly gives the wildcats a much needed confidence boost before their next conference matchup on Monday versus number 3 ranked Iowa State. The quick turnaround will be a test of endurance and resiliency for Arizona.
